Ministries Within Our Community
“For Christ’s love compels us….” 2 Corinthians 5:14
God has strategically placed Curtis Baptist Church in an area of the city with opportunities to minister in unique ways. Take a look at some of these opportunities below. We are so thankful to God that He has allowed us to serve our community in these special ways- we cannot wait for you to learn more about them!
The GAP Ministry class is designed to bridge the gap between the Church and the women in our community by teaching everyday life skills to women of all ages, using the Bible as our guide.
Weekly classes meet Wednesday mornings from 9:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. in the GAP room. Classes run in two semesters, from September to December concluding with a Christmas Shoppe, and from January to May ending with a Spring Shoppe. Regular participants earn points to use at these two special events.
Transportation is provided within a limited distance from Curtis church; preschool childcare is also provided to participants. Transportation requests may be made by calling the church office at 706-722-7348 by Noon on the Tuesday before the meeting.
The GAP ministry is an approved agency for the Augusta Housing Authority’s community service hour requirement.Email for more info
The Curtis Baptist Food Pantry was established in July of 2002, for the purpose of providing physical and spiritual food to those in need. Our community is served two afternoons per month, usually the second and fourth Thursday, at 1:00PM. Appointments can be made at other times for emergency needs.
Where does the food come from?
The Food Pantry is dependent solely upon donations from church members and friends to stay stocked and ready to serve the 50+ families who visit every month.Email for more info
Men’s Dinner and Devotion
The Dinner & Devotion Ministry is designed to bridge the gap between the Church and the men in our community by offering a free fellowship meal and Bible study every Wednesday evening at 5:00 p.m. in the Lower Auditorium.
Men of all ages are invited to attend. The Broad Street door (under the sanctuary steps) is opened at 5:00 for entrance. Door is locked at 5:30 p.m.
Men’s Clothes Closet
Curtis currently maintains and operates a room designated as a “clothes closet” for adult men, in conjunction with the Men’s D&D ministry.
This ministry is currently open once a week, year round, for men in the community who participate in the Men’s D&D ministry. Appointments can be made through the church office for emergency assistance.
The Clothes Closet is open to men who attend Men’s Dinner and Devotion on Wednesday evenings.Email for more info
