60% of the world's population is under 24 years old. That would be about a little more that 3.5 billion people, if there are 6 billion on the planet. Half of those young people, roughly 1.8 billion, live within a 3 hour flight of Singapore.

There are close to 100 people ready to go to the foreign field as career missionaries, but the International Mission Board doesn't have the funds to send them. Nearly 350 are ready to go for a short-term assignment, but again, there isn't any money.

SBC churches baptized less people in 2007 than they did in 1950.

57.6% of the world's population is considered "unreached" by the IMB.

Two pennies out of every dollar that comes into SBC churches ends up overseas. What are we thinking?

For any Christ follower, the command of Christ to makes disciples of all peoples is clear. He said it five times: once in each gospel and the book of Acts. Needs and opportunities exist everywhere. The key for individuals and churches is to find out how and where God wants them to be involved.

Image Taking time for conversation, lending a helping hand, working in disaster relief, caring for a health need, or providing reading glasses, expresses God’s love in tangible ways. Helping people gives credibility to our message. God really does love everyone. We help others because Jesus put the desire to help others in our hearts. Caring comes before sharing.

Local Opportunities:
Curtis seeks to make a difference in the lives of people here in the CSRA. There are many ministries that connect our church to people beyond our walls, and we see that expanding. Some of those are highlighted in other places on our website. We invite you to check out the GAP Ministry, The Food Pantry Ministry, The Learning Place, which includes “Dinner and Devotion” for Men. These are just a few of the local mission opportunities.

Image North American Missions:
Curtis recognizes the needs of people in our country for relationship with God through Christ. We sent teams to the Gulf Coast in the post-Katrina restoration effort.  In 2008, our High School Choir was on mission at the Wade Center in Bluefield West Virginia. Currently, we are exploring how we can be involved in the new partnership between Georgia Baptists and the metro New York City area.

Watch for more details as they become available.

Image International:
Curtis has a rich history of both supporting international ministry as well as sending teams and individuals to be involved in what God is doing over seas. We have cared for orphans in Romania, provided mobile medical and dental clinics in Eastern Europe and South Asia. Additionally, groups have done construction work,  prayer-walked and shared the love of Christ in many places around our world. As we have cared and shared, we have seen God do some amazing things, helping others see that Jesus really can make a difference in the lives.
