I know that with working through forgiveness comes pain, unsettledness, and it can be a slow deliberate process. Getting to the root of unforgiveness in our hearts happens as we allow the Lord to do His work of healing in our lives. Walking daily in the forgiveness that we have received from God can give us the power to forgive others even for the deepest pain inflicted.
I want to encourage you in Christ to keep working through your baggage, hurts and bitterness until you find peace and victory in forgiveness. If you have already been set free, look for others around you that God will place in your life that need the hope that God has a plan of forgiveness for them too. God didn’t put us here to mindlessly wander through life. Remember the words of Jer. 29:11-13, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity…”
The above verses are a promise that God has a plan for freedom. God is the one who brings us out of the captivity of unforgiveness. God can and will bring victory into our lives when we surrender by faith to trust His ways instead of our own.
Today’s Prayer
Lord may I not settle for surface living and forgiving. May I let you do your deep work of pealing back layers of unforgiveness and hurt in my heart and bring your complete healing through your forgiveness. Enable me to be honest and honestly forgive those around me that have hurt me or wronged me. May I keep short account with you and live in the freedom of forgiveness!
