Psalm 62:5 says, “Find REST oh my SOUL in God ALONE…” Soul rest comes from God alone and only comes when we take time to seek God in prayer and Bible study. Jesus often withdrew to lonely places to seek God. Do we?
Have you ever considered that God brings us to places of emptiness to fill us with His soul rest? There is nothing in this world that can compare to the love of our God. So try this: the next time you feel some distance, face rejection, or find yourself feeling a bit alone or left out, see it as an invitation from a consuming, loving, longing Heavenly Father who wants you all to Himself in the lonely place. He is the one who longs to refresh your soul, speak to your heart, fill your empty places, and sustain you through anything!
We don’t need new people or circumstances to find happiness; we just need time with God to be filled by His presence. We need such an awe of God that we accept His plan over our own plans. This comes when we take time to open His Word and let Him speak to us as we read the Scriptures. This comes through times of prayer with our hearts real before the Lord.
Do you have that personal time with God and God alone? If not, why not get started with a Bible Study or Life Group offered at Curtis? Get into God’s Word everyday and find rest for your soul!
